The Swords Demystified

Prior to filming, Tsui Hark and Liu Chia Liang left no stone unturned, no sword unforged in racking their brains to devising the concept for the seven priceless swords possessed by the seven knights-errant, spending months in brainstorming sessions, and after numerous experimentations, trial and error, nearly all swords have undergone multiple forging and redesigns before the mammoth task was accomplished.

The natures of the seven unique swords are a reflection of the personalities of the bearers, one can be used both ways, another can morph into two swords, etc. and all of them were produced at a very high cost. Apart from distinct physical attributes, each sword also produces different effect, one may send an opponent flying off miles away, while another kills without the opponent realising it, such that they may still be convulsing with fear after death. The Seven Swords are forged by Master Shadow-Glow at Mt Heaven, as he experiences seven different accomplishments in swordsmanship, and they all bear different metaphors.
