-- Donnie Yen's Upcoming Crime Movie -- Earlier this year, Donnie Yen lobbied for a US based studio to co-produce the movie with Mandarin Films. With financing from aboard, Wilson Yip and Donnie Yen decided to raise the budget of his new crime movie, often called SPL sequel, to HK$50m. Sammo Hung, who survived the finale fight in the original movie, is unlikely to return. Director Wilson Yip intended to recruit both Aaron Kok and Louis Koo but the former couldn't make it while the latter had already agreed to join the movie, with Donnie Yen personally crafting some nasty combo moves for him. In an interview over the phone, Donnie Yen said, "Actually, this film is not officially SPL sequel, due to copyright issues. I would only be getting the original production to shoot a new crime movie with similar themes. I will make Louis Koo's fight scenes very exciting. However, ultimately, he is not a martial artist, so, I won't force him do moves that are too demanding. I believe we could begin filming it in July or August, once I return from Cannes Film Festival." Nanyang Press
