Donnie Yen Gives Highest Accolades to Tsui Hark and The Seven Swords at Sina Fans Gathering

Sina.com, one of China's largest online news portals, held a Seven Swords Online Fan Gathering for Donnie Yen on March 19, 2005. It was also the first time the first official poster of Seven Swords 《七剑》 was made public.

Donnie Yen: Yes, mainly to check my emails and to monitor entertainment news around the globe. I also visit my fansites, for they have been supporting me for so many years, and have done so much for me, I can't let them down. Once, the webmaster of a fansite and I met for the first time when I was in Beijing to promote a film [Twins Effect 2]. I told him I'm grateful for their support, and wanted to thank them in person. Perhaps, a few months later, when there are some activities in Beijing, I could arrange to meet them and thank them.

Yuen Wo Ping on House of Fury

Martial arts choreographer Yuen Wo Ping is, without a shadow of doubt, a certified maestro of the genre, having done many blockbusters of compelling martial arts sequences in the East and West. From Drunken Master, Fist of Legend, Master of Taichi, The Matrix trilogy, Kill Bill to Kung Fu Hustle, not only are they critically acclaimed but also a big success at the box office. Come March 24, House of Fury 《精武家庭》, in which Yuen Wo Ping again took charge of the action scenes, will be released nationwide. Yesterday, over the phone interview, Yuen Wo Ping did not mask his delights for this new feature directed by Stephen Fung.

Seven Swords: Tsui Hark Strikes Back After Lying Low for Three Years

"When creating a wuxia world, it's of paramount importance to bring out the personality of each of the characters. Like other weapons, sword is a device that shows human philosophies. The Seven Swords actually represent seven states of being: wisdom, unity, sacrifice, animal instinct, assault, protection and camaraderie." says Tsui Hark. In order to achieve these goals, Tsui Hark studied reference materials on ancient weapons before coming up with a blueprint for The Seven Swords. Then, he consulted Liu Chia Liang on aspects of practicality prior to finalisation.

On March 4, Tsui Hark held a mini-press conference for The Seven Swords, during which he showed the most important tools for the movie - a negative print of The Seven Swords per se. Throughout the interview, Tsui Hark remained philosophical, though his voice was somewhat pensive, yet there is no denying that through his talk, one could feel a feverish passion for wuxia in his heart of hearts.
