-- Kingdom to Heaven -- While spending years doing research on Journey to the West, Tsui Hark came across stories concerning Tang dynasty's super sleuth Di Ren Jie aka Judge Dee, sparking ideas on the film. The film's Chinese title will be 《通天帝国》 Kingdom to Heaven, and is set to begin production in May 2009. Huayi Brothers is producing. Apparently, the initial draft of the script focuses on one major case, and it'll be an entirely original story. This time around, the astute and intelligent detective would be turned into a martial arts exponent, and the movie is never short of fighting scenes. Andy Lau is likely to play the protagonist Di Ren Jie. To celebrate the silver anniversary of Film Workshop next year, Tsui Hark intends to hold a series of commemorative exhibitions, and there's also the intention to do a couple of remakes of classics from Film Workshop. To start off, Kwak Jae Young will be directing Shanghai Blues remake, with script written by Tsui Hark. The Beijing News

Donnie Yen says that last year, he was indeed being approached to play General Li Guang alongside Zhang Ziyi , but hasn't heard any further word from them. He does not have any idea on when it'd begin production, but looks forward to it, nevertheless. Lianhe Wanbao

Raymond Wong has been traversing all over Zhejiang of late. Recently, he completed the filming of All's Well that Ends Well 2009 in Hangzhou and Thousand Island Lake. And a few days ago, Raymond Wong arrived in Longyou, Zhejiang to scout locations for his next work. Raymond Wong, who visited Longyou Grottoes for the first time, was intrigued, "Just now, while sightseeing, I was racking my brain, wondering how the grottoes were built, and for what purpose. But I couldn't think of any answers." On the other hand, it's this sense of mystery that gives Raymond Wong inspirations, "I've come here to find inspirations for a film I'm doing next year. In the recent years, I've been to various locales throughout Mainland, looking for inspirations. This year, I went to Foshan and Thousand Island Lakes, and Ip Man and All's Well that Ends Well 2009 came about. From now onwards, I plan to shoot at least one action film and one comedy each year." Sun Peng, producer of All's Well that Ends Well 2009, who's accompanying Raymond Wong, revealed, "This will tentatively be used as an outdoor location for Donnie Yen's next big-budget period action film. With such magnificent location, coupled with various mysteries and legends surrounding Longyou Grottoes, it'll be no less shattering than... The Myth." Seeing that Sun Peng had already let the cat out of the bag, Raymond Wong continued, "If we were to shoot a period action comedy, I might even take part as an actor, with I doing drama/comedy and Donnie Yen doing action." -- Legendary Assassin --
In one scene, shot in a rural village in Sai Kung, Wu Jing gets into a brawl with the giant wrestler Jiang Bao Cheng. Due to the sweltering weather, everyone was perspiring even before the camera rolled. But Wu Jing remained unaffected by the weather, and kept conferring with Nicky Li on the details of this scene.
To shoot this scene, Wu Jing had been going through the moves with Jiang Bao Cheng, and to achieve best results and create more impact, after looking at the playback, he would keep on discussing with Nicky Li and working out various ways of fighting. For each action, Wu Jing would only be satisfied after having done many takes. Jiang Bao Cheng, whose costume, wet with sweat, had long dried up, ran out of patient and bellowed, "So hot, so tiring."
Wu Jing immediately called Jiang Bao Cheng over to watch the playback together. It was only then do we see a big smile on the redoubtable giant's face. Even Paco Wong, who visited the set, was lavishing praises after seeing the playback. HK Headline
