Legend of Shaolin Kungfu 3 is in the final leg of pre-production, with preparation works being carried out in Beijing, Gansu and Ningxia. The third of the hugely successful TV trilogy produced and directed by Du Xiao is expected to begin production in September, with around 4 months spent on outdoor shoot in Gansu and Ningxia, showing the cultures and sceneries of western part of China, before heading to Beijing for one month of indoor shoot on a soundstage.
Legend of Shaolin Kungfu 3 is set in Manchurian Dynasty, during Kangxi's reign. Emperor Kangxi sends Shaolin monks to the Western Region on a covert operation, and in the process, the monks face assassinations from various powers that be, springing forth a chain of events.
Veteran actor Bao Guo An is back by popular demand, returning as the Shaolin abbot and Du Xiao is in talks with Zhang Guo Li and his son Zhang Mo to play Kangxi and the crown prince. Gansu Daily
-- Du Xin Wu --
Director Tao Ming Xi is currently working on the script and scouting locations for 《大侠杜心五》 Paladin Du Xin Wu (tentative), a 30m yuan budget kungfu film based on national hero and martial arts master Du Xin Wu (1869-1953), who's trained in various martial arts, from Shaolin, Eagle Claw to Natural Fist, and once served as Dr Sun Yat Sen's bodyguard.
Fan Siu Wong will play the eponymous hero Du Xin Wu. In an interview, Ah You Duo says she's playing Wang Qin Xin, an armed escort's daughter. Having just returned from overseas studies, Wang Qin Xin is against the use of martial arts to save the nation, and advocates development of science and technology instead. She meets Du Xin Wu at a poetry competition and their relationship develops from there.
Paladin Du Xin Wu, which focuses on a series of events taking place in Guizhou, is slated for production in Guizhou this November. Other cast-members include Sammo Hung, Bruce Liang, Chen Zhi Hui, Ben Ng Ngai-Cheung, Waise Lee. Guizhou Daily
