Team SPL Attends HK Entertainment Expo

More than 1000 celebrities, including Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Maggie Cheung, Chow Yun Fat, Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Donnie Yen, Wu Jing, Aaron Kwok turned up at Hong Kong Entertainment Expo's opening ceremony at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on March 21. The expo, running until April 6, is series of entertainment events in Asia that includes Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum, 29th Hong Kong International Film Festival and the 24th Hong Kong Film Awards. It aims at bringing together film and TV programming, film trading, music and digital entertainment.

Exhibited at the booths of Hong Kong International Film Festival (March 22 to 24) are such major upcoming films as Johnnie To's Election, Guan Jin Peng's Chang Hen Ge, Tsui Hark's Seven Swords, Benny Chan's Divergence, Abba Movies' SPL and Love SMS (tentative). On the first day, SPL (Sha Po Lang) made a total of around HK$20 million in sales of distribution rights to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Korea and France. SPL is tentatively scheduled for Hong Kong release in November [but SPL exhibition booth cites mid 2005 as its release]. Wenwei Paper, Straights Times
