Wing Chun is a form of extreme close-quarter combat that emphasises speed and power, and Donnie Yen, who did filming while being affected by previous injuries, was having a very painful time completing each shot.
"When shooting martial arts scenes, I was basically not able to raise my shoulder. For nearly every take, I had to rely on a masseur on the set to help massage and ease my shoulder so that I could complete a scene." explains Donnie Yen. May he recover soon enough.
Donnie Yen also says that the model-turned actress Lynn Hung surprises him by her convincing acting skills.
Having worked with director Wilson Yip to great successes in the recent years, Donnie Yen has great confidence for Ip Man, "We've developed a miraculous rapport, I believe Ip Man is our most fully-fledged work yet."
