This time, I'm in Hong Kong mainly to shoot director Benny Chan's new work, City Under Siege. Of course, filming is still going on, so I'm not at liberty to talk too much. But I can disclose that I won't be fighting alone this time.
In the film, I'm accompanied by a beauty, this endearing partner is Zhang Jing Chu. This is our 2nd collaboration, we've worked together on Yuen Cheung Yan's Southern Shaolin before, but, regretfully, we practically didn't have any scenes opposite each other.
Working with her for real this time around, I find her to be very professional, and she's also very adorable, and her persistence in the pursuits of art is very admirable. I believe our collaboration will bring about a different feel for everyone.
I saw a while back that we were being snapped secretly by reporters. Actually, you can tell from those photos, at that time, there was plenty of smoke on the set, which impeded breathing. But that's the way films are shot, that haze is meant to create a more romantic, fantastical atmosphere, and the actors on the set would be affected by the polluted air, but the outcome is the most important.
Actually, I believe that as actors, we should bear with the hardships of filming, for every profession has its downsides. And to excel, one must be able to endure hardships and loneliness. Looking back, along this path, there was a time when I was at my trough, when I felt lost. But thanks to a group of close friends who kept on encouraging me, and counselling me, I got back on the track, regaining my confidence and perseverance.
