Gillian Chung has been hard at work, training in Wing Chun under Sin Kwok Lam for a year, and now has a good grasp of it. Sin Kwok Lam, whose kungfu lineage can be traced to Yip Man, praises Gillian Chung for her talent in martial arts, as well as her positive attitude towards learning.
Gillian Chung says that Wing Chun helps strengthen oneself physically, is very practical, and with proper application of just a little strength, can be a very lethal skill. When training, one has to focus one's mind to coordinate with the movements, it helps cultivate one's mind too. She adds that while martial arts is an excellent form of self-defence technique, she doesn't advocate fighting.
It's not easy to train in Wing Chun, for it's very easy to get hurt. Worst still, the training facility doesn't have air-con turned on, and it can be very hot in summer. She ever tried training till she was all heat up, and her legs went wobbly, and she nearly fainted.
Sin Kwok Lam, who served as one of the producers and martial arts consultants for Ip Man, has formed his owned film studio and is planning to produce 《少年叶问》 Young Ip Man (tentative) at a budget of HK$70m this November. He intends to hire Herman Yau to direct while he himself will be the martial arts director. He is casting his favourite disciple To Yu Hang, and has the intention of getting Gillian Chung, Fan Siu Wong and Fan Bing Bing to join too, "The actors I pick must be trained in martial arts, I don't wish to rely on wires or special effects. I find that Gillian Chung has great potential and hope that she would join this production."

Gillian Chung will be performing on a stage musical/play 《星爸阿爸》I Ought To Be In Pictures over a six-day run starting from August 27, playing a girl who was raised by her single-mother and desires to become a celebrity. Longing to be reunited with her father, she returns to Hong Kong to look for him. 21CN
