-- An Empress and the Warriors -- A press conference, attended by Kelly Chen and Guo Xiao Dong, was held on February 1 for An Empress and the Warriors, which is heading for release in Asia on March 20. Ching Siu Tung directed this film and worked with Ma Yuk Sing choreograph the action, which tips on the more realistic side of the scale. Kelly Chen, who plays a princess of a fallen kingdom who seeks to restore it, says that the armours they wore was very heavy. It was made of metal and the film was made in summer when it was the hottest in Beijing. It was already tiring wearing armours, they were already sweating a lot, and had to do action scenes, resulting in loss of appetite. All they wanted was to finish filming quickly. Even then, Kelly Chen did not slack, not only was she praised by Leon Lai, but gave quite a bit of pressure on Guo Xiao Dong, "Seeing Kelly Chen's action scenes gave me a shock. It didn't occur to me that she could fight so well. I thought to myself, I mustn't lose out to her."

Peter Chan: Man of War The Straits Times, December 12, 2007 by Boon Chan "We cannot afford to waste our energy, time and money in killing. We have to spend our time and energy in love and in building peace. Because if we don’t stop the war right now, everyone knows we have no time for anything else. Maybe the winners in war and the losers in war may die sooner than the war ends, if our planet ends." Supreme Master Ching Hai |
Peter Chan's battle strategy to steer his new film from conventional period epics is to portray the gritty reality of 1850 China amid civil war.
A top drawer cast, a big-name director, a period epic with pulse-racing action sequences. The description applies equally to any number of films including Hero, Curse of the Golden Flower, and the upcoming Red Cliff and Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon. But this is filmmaker Peter Chan's The Warlords, a tale of three sworn brothers set against the tumultuous backdrop of epic battles and political intrigue.

-- Wisely -- Donnie Yen, who is currently filming Kingdom and Beauty and would be doing Painted Skin remake next, is taking a break from martial arts choreography and is conserving his energy and inspirations for a movie adaptation of Wisely, a detective/mystery novel series by Ni Kuang, "Wilson Yip is currently working on the script, taking care of all the character designs. I'd be in charge of the action direction, and I'd also be taking on the role of Wisely. Wisely is a more gentle, refined, cultured person compared to Ma Jun of Flash Point, so the choreography leans towards this direction." Production for Wisely is likely to start in around December. -- The Kingdom and The Beauty -- Donnie Yen is heading to Beijing on July 1 to take part in the production of 《江山美人》The Kingdom and The Beauty (tentative), directed by Tony Ching Siu Tung and produced by Peter Chan, art directed by Hai Chung Man. Donnie Yen plays a general who is the childhood friend of the princess, played by Kelly Chen Hui Ling, who has been training in horse-riding and swordplay to prepare for the film with wuxia setting. However, she later falls for Leon Lai, who seems to be already attached to another production. Donnie Yen says that this movie will succeed the martial arts style of his previous movies.
