In the wake of Sichuan earthquake, rendering thousands dead or buried, buildings destroyed, roads blocked, with survivors facing shortage of food and water supply, various Chinese celebrities have made donations and expressed their concerns for victims of the disaster. Wu Jing, currently filming in Hong Kong, is also worried about the safety of everyone, including his fans in the affected areas, hoping that they are fine, and tide over the calamity soon.
Jackie Chan and Emperor Entertainment's chairman Albert Yeung jointly donated 10m yuan. Jet Li's One Foundation sent 1m yuan immediately, and also started fund-raising activities for further relief efforts, collecting around 18.6m yuan so far. Jet Li is heading to the disaster areas on May 16 to render his help. Various other celebrities, including Donnie Yen, Gillian Chung, Charlene Choi, Nicholas Tse, Zhang Guo Li, Zhang Ting, Eva Huang Sheng Yi, Andy Lau, Vicky Zhao Wei, Ruby Lin, etc. also chipped in 100 thousand to 300 thousand yuan each. Less than 2 weeks ago, Myanmar was devastated by cyclone. With one catastrophe following another, could these be early warnings of Earth being devoured? Donations can be made via One Foundation. -- "Chen Zhen" -- Beijing Enlight Pictures held a press conference yesterday, announcing its plan to produce/co-produce/distribute 30 films in the next three years. Gordon Chan, Kirk Wong, Joe Ma, Dante Lam, Lee Chi Ngai have all signed collaboration deals with it.
Gordon Chan's first deal with Beijing Enlight Pictures is "Chen Zhen" which is still in scripting stage. He'll be working on it in full force after completing another film in Japan. Donnie Yen has already verbally agreed to play the eponymous character. Gordon Chan says that this is a very difficult subject since stories concerning Chen Zhen have been adapted countless times, including Fist of Legend that Gordon Chan directed in 1995. However, as one with keen interests on Chen Zhen, he has confidence of creating something different. He says that "Chen Zhen" is tailor made for Donnie Yen and hopes to begin production at the end of this year.
Kirk Wong would be working with Beijing Enlight Pictures on Five Venoms remake, possibly with Jay Chou and Wong Lee Hom in the leads. Other films in the works include Flowers of Apocynum, Codex of Weapons, Chinese Warriors, Special Task Force, etc (all tentative titles).
Since Confession of Pain, Beijing Enlight has been involved in producing/distributing Wonder Woman, Flash Point and Triangle. The movies they are distributing this year include Tsui Hark's Missing aka The Eye 3 (May), Jeffrey Lau's Fantastic Water Babes with Gillian Chung, Eva Huang Shengyi, Charlene Choi, Alex Fong, Stephen Fung, Tian Liang (July). Donnie Yen Defines the Art of Practical Combat Onscreen Watching Movie, 13/7/2007 Zhu Qin
I heard that the concept of mixed martial arts is implemented in the upcoming summer movie Flash Point. Donnie Yen: Mixed martial arts, a combat sport that has become popular in the West in the recent years, is an effective fighting system that employs a vast array of different martial arts techniques. Each contestant possesses a variety of martial arts techniques such as Jujitsu, boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, etc. I believe this is the most authentic type of combat. I have been researching, studying and learning it. I introduced some of it in SPL - Brazilian Ju-jitsu.

-- Plot of Twins Mission (Let's Steal Together) -- Spoilers: A Dzi bead from Tibet was on its way to Hong Kong for an exhibition, but was stolen by a mysterious gang with a possible link to a long-lost cult, the Gemini Clan. The guardian of the Dzi bead Lucky (Sammo Hung) and his adopted son Hey (Wu Jing) tried to solicit the help of the head of the Clan, the Principal, to track down the bead. Unwilling to come out of retirement, the Principal refused to get involved, but when Lucky was seriously wounded after another attack by the mysterious gang, the Principal reluctantly summoned the help of the Clan’s former members – Twins (Gillian Chung and Charlene Choi). In the meantime the suicide of an artifact dealer put the police hot on the heels of the Principal and his students. When Hey finally retrieved the bead, he mistakenly handed it to the Principal’s twin brother, the Boss, who was the master mind behind the theft in an attempt to take over a prime piece of property along the coast. -- Let's Steal Together -- It had been a tough job for the crew and cast to work on the set of Let's Steal Together in Guangzhou, with temperature reaching as high as 38ºC. -- Let's Steal Together -- When Tsui Siu Ming and Sammo Hung held several meetings to discuss their upcoming collaboration Howling Arrow, Tsui Siu Ming mentioned the storyline of Let's Steal Together to Sammo Hung, who found it to be appealing. So, Tsui Siu Ming invited him to join this movie as well, to give the audience a pleasant surprise. Coupled with suggestions from Sammo Hung, producer Tsui Siu Ming and director Kong Tao Hoi designed many earthshaking fight scenes in the movie. Sammo Hung plays a lama who is skilled healer, and has many scenes opposite Wu Jing.
"After accepting Let's Steal Together, I often contemplated on improving the action scenes. This time around, Wu Jing is my partner. I have already witnessed his excellent skills in SPL (aka Kill Zone), in which he showed his great agility and power. He is someone with great potential. So, it's a great opportunity to work with him on a martial arts film. I believe I have a very important mission: to protect the two lovely female leads Twins Gillian Chung and Charlene Choi. Though they have encountered hundreds of battles, but facing such a strong opponent as Wu Jing, it'd benefit them to learn some self-defense techniques, so that they would be able to counter his attacks." Wu Jing feels it a great fortune to work with Sammo Hung again, saying that he has much to learn from him, "I respect brother Sammo Hung a lot, for he treats everyone on the set equally, taking good care of newcomers like us. For example, when he learned that I'd injured myself when filming, he visited me to enquire about my wellbeing. He even said, 'Though you might have had some minor injuries, I won't hold back when filming, for we have to achieve that authentic feel.' He told me not to be hesitant when fighting him simply because he was a senior. He wanted me to give my all. It's very lucky to work with such a professional actor like brother Sammo Hung." Sina
