-- Legend of A Fighter 2005 -- Wang Bin and Li Feng, scriptwriters for Hero and House of Flying Daggers, have been called up urgently by Bill Kong to amend 《霍元甲》 Legend of A Fighter's script. After much hesitation, Wang Bin reveals, "It's a very tough job for we have merely over 10 days to give a complete overhaul to nearly every major part of the script. However, the original characters and locations will be retained. Jet Li is practically behind the entire structure of the script, and through this collaboration, I learn that Jet Li hopes to fulfill a very big wish of his, having gained, apparently, a higher perspective on life and humanity. -- House of Fury -- House of Fury, directed by Stephen Fung and starring Anthony Wong, Gillian Chung, Daniel Wu, Charlene Choi, Michael Wong, Wu Ma, Jacob Strickland, and Stephen Fung himself, is set for release in major Asian countries on March 24, with screenings in over 600 theatres in China. Apart from Yuen Wo Ping, who did the choreography for the movie, Jackie Chan Stunt Team was also involved in the production of the martial arts comedy. Jackie Chan, who produces the 40 million yuan movie, says that House of Fury is a showcase of new wave action sequences that not only incorporates humorous elements but also authentic fight scenes - a rare sight these days in Hong Kong cinema. Jackie Chan says that he was shocked after having watched the movie, for he could not imagine seeing such intensity, and such level of martial arts sequences, taking his hats off to Yuen Wo Ping for having made a breakthrough in martial arts choreography. Apparently, he recommends this movie without reservations, believing that it would be well-received by the younger audience. Gillian Chung and Charlene Choi are glad to work with Yuen Wo Ping for, apparently, their skills have greatly improved under his direction. Beijing Youth Daily, Hangzhou Daily

-- House of Fury -- Anthony Wong, says he has been good friends with Yuen Wo Ping, expresses his gladness in working with him, "I believe people from Mainland will be more familiar with Yuen Wo Ping than me, and what the audience wants to see in an action movie is thrilling action. A director can't do much about the action scenes without a martial arts director and the presence of Yuen Wo Ping is certainly a great box office guarantee. I have lots of fight scenes in House of Fury, the most beautiful one being the opening fight scene in which I deal with over ten ninjas, switching to a number of different weapons, from sword to General Kwan's Sabre. Really elaborate. You'd regret it if you did not witness it personally. "Yuen Wo Ping has gone all out to craft action scenes of elegant moves and visceral impact. Like Stephen Fung, he is fiercely committed and very strict with regard to filmmaking. They both demand nothing less than perfection. On the other hand, Yuen Wo Ping also took very good care of the actors and their safety when doing action scenes, and so injuries were minimised." However, Anthony Wong says that the primary reason he took up House of Fury was not because of the lavish action sequences. Rather, it was due to how the film revolves around family values, the selfless love and devotion of a father to his kids. "I hope to tell everyone to treasure whatever you have, to cherish your family, even if you may be in conflict with with them at times. They are the one who loves you most." Beijing Star Daily According to Stephen Fung, House of Fury's script moved Jackie Chan quite a bit that he gave his approval immediately after glancing over the summary. He says that House of Fury is a movie that uses action to package kinship, a movie that talks about generation gap, and filial piety. The movie uses primarily wide shots and long cuts for the fights, with little special effects. Sina | Press conference video: Sina

-- House of Fury -- Stephen Fung, an actor-turned director, says that he doesn't want to give up acting and hopes that he will still get offers from other directors to act in their work so as to learn from them. On the other hand, he enjoys more in being behind the camera. Being a fan of martial arts films since young, he has often wished to shoot one such movie. House of Fury, his second work as a director, fulfills his dream. He gets to work with Yuen Wo Ping who he finds to be very affable and easy to communicate with. On working with veteran actor Anthony Wong, Stephen Fung says, "A director must have his own ideas, even then, I am still willing to accept other actor's suggestions." This time round, Jackie Chan, who invests in the film, did not provide any suggestions or input for the film, and so, he feels tremendous pressure. He hopes this film is well-received so that he won't do Jackie Chan a disservice. While Gillian Chung feels honoured about being branded as the new generation female action star, she doesn't want to be typecast and loses opportunity to do other roles. Having done many action films, Gillian Chung has unconsciously built a foundation and she doesn't deny being able to defend herself using martial arts. "There are many actions in House of Fury, and wire was seldom used, but there are more fisticuffs and kicks, so it's much more tiring." She has the deepest impression on the scene where she has to take on 8 persons. Having gradually developed an interest in wushu, Gillian Chung's now training in Taichi to prepare for her next film, perhaps spearheaded by a set of Taichi moves Yuen Wo Ping taught her for House of Fury, after finding her to have great flexibility. Daniel Wu took up House of Fury on the account of his friendship with Stephen Fung. He hopes the latter would also repay him by acting in his film should he get a chance to direct. Being good friends, they have formed good rapport with each other, "I understand what he wants, and at the same time, he also knows what I can do, so it's great fun to work together." -- House of Fury -- After being lauded by Jackie Chan as the young director with the brightest future, Stephen Fung has recently been voted by Screen International as the most influential young director. Despite the bleak outlook on the HK film market, Stephen Fung never lets his hopes run low, "I feel that as the new generation, our task is to reinvigorate the HK film industry, I believe that as long as we make quality films, the audience will support us. So, we must work harder so as not to disappoint them." Stephen Fung's House of Fury is currently in post-production and is tentatively scheduled for release in January or February 2005. With help from Yuen Wo Ping as the martial arts director, this movie has garnered keen interests from quite a substantial number of distributors around the globe, giving a further boost to Stephen Fung's confidence. -- House of Fury -- House of Fury 《精武家庭》 has wrapped up production on October 30. The investors Jackie Chan and Albert Yeung celebrated the occasion with the cast Michael Wong, Anthony Wong, Daniel Wu, etc. The film's director and actor Stephen Fung hopes to finish post-production in time to release the movie by the end of this year. With Yuen Wo Ping as the martial arts director, the action scenes will certainly be the movie's major attraction. One action scene worth noting is a motorcycle flying stunt apparently performed personally by Stephen Fung. It could only be done in a single take so as not disrupt the traffic. As a side note, a TV station from US has recently visited the set and interviewed Stephen Fung who hopes that House of Fury will be shown outside Asia. However, it's not all plain sailing for Stephen Fung, who had a dispute with Anthony Wong over a few lines which the latter consider inappropriate for the movie, on the set, while Gillian Chung suffered a serious injury in the pelvis during a fall. -- House of Fury -- It's the opportunity of a lifetime. Fourteen-year old martial artist Jake Strickland from Columbus, Georgia USA has joined the leading cast of House of Fury, a Hong Kong martial arts movie now in production from EMG and Jackie Chan's JCE Movies, with direction by Master Yuen Wo Ping. While promoting Around the World in 80 Days on the Regis and Kelly television show here in the US, Jackie Chan was shown a clip of Jake Strickland performing on Regis and Kelly on a previous day. Genuinely impressed by the boy's skills, Chan ended up getting Strickland a prominent role in House of Fury that has been rewritten just for him.

-- House of Fury -- Stephen Fung's second directorial work Jingwu Family (tentative) 《精武家庭》 has started filming recently. Some of the cast includes Gillian Chung, Josie Ho, Daniel Wu, Anthony Wong and Stephen Fung himself. Recently, Gillian Chung's throat was injured by a stunt performer during an action scene and the doctor advised her not to talk for three days and not to sing for three weeks to ensure proper recovery. Anthony Wong, having a number of intense fight scenes in the movie, suffered from numerous injuries too and once, he was once nearly fractured. He said that in a scene that took six days to complete, he has to battle over ten ninjas, and whether he is eating or driving, he has to fight them all the time. He remarked that he was very happy with that scene after viewing the playback. When asked, the movie's martial arts director Yuen Wo Ping expressed confidence in the action sequences in Jingwu Family, believing that they will be better than his previous work Kill Bill. Netease, Taizhou Daily Josie Ho is currently in production of House of Fury 《精武家庭》, directed by Stephen Fung. Apparently, she'd have a fight scene against Eighth Master (Yuen Wo Ping) in the movie. Josie Ho has been training under Eighth Master in the recent days and has to fight till her head is swimming. It has been extremely taxing, but her skills have improved considerably. She says it's worth all the hardships for she treasures the chance to spar against the first-class martial arts director of Hollywood. Gillian Chung plays Daniel Wu's 'target' in the movie. It's especially tiring for both of them, who have to juggle between two filming units. On the other hand, Michael Fitzgerald Wong is having an easier time, since he merely has to sit in the wheelchair all day long when filming. MyRice, Netease
