-- Young Ip Man -- Following his appearance as Liu Bei in Light-transcending Pandora's Box, Jeffrey Lau's parody on Red Cliff, Yuen Biao is joining Young Ip Man, produced by Sin Kwok Lam, directed by Herman Yau, this November, while the prolific Jeffrey Lau would start filming another work around the same time.
Yuen Biao would be playing Ip Man's senior Ng Chung Suk, responsible for further training Ip Man after their master Chan Wah Shun passed away.
Young Ip Man, which traces Yip Man's life between age of 11 to 28, also stars To Yu Hang, possibly as Yip Man, Fan Siu Wong, who has recently been training Wing Chun daily under Sin Kwok Lam, and Huang Yi as Yip Man's girlfriend.
As such, owing to schedule conflicts, Yuen Biao could only make a cameo in the ongoing production Legend of Shaolin Kungfu 3. The role he'd be playing is still undergoing negotiation.
Meanwhile, Tony Leung, who is back to Wing Chun training, still feels some pain when exerting him arm as it takes 3 months before his fractured arm would fully recover. Producer Ng See Yuen says The Great Master by Wong Kar Wai and apparently with Yuen Wo Ping as the martial arts choreographer, which, coincidentally, is about Yip Man's life after his migration to Hong Kong and his relations with other sects, has to begin filming in November - come what may. But who knows it'd be pushed back yet again. Ng See Yuen is forbidding Wong Kar Wai, who's facing tremendous pressure, from altering the script on the set, "The script must be finalised first, can't let him keep changing the script as he shoots the film." Light-Transcending Pandora's Box is currently undergoing production in Guangzhou (video) and, despite some similarities, director Jeffrey Lau clarifies that he won't repeat what he has done previously: Light-Transcending Pandora's Box is a completely different story from Chinese Odyssey.
In fact, it's closer to Eagle Shooting Hero in that it's a laugh-out-loud nonsensical comedy throughout the entire film, with romance being sidelined. Light-Transcending Pandora's Box is a burlesque on Red Cliff, much as what Eagle Shooting Hero is to the original Jin Yong novel.

-- Light-transcending Pandora's Box -- Light-transcending Pandora's Box, a 60m yuan budgeted madcap comedy directed by Jeffrey Lau, has been in production since July 1 and is expected to wrap up by end of August. The film is about some fool acquiring Pandaro's Box by chance and ended up, along with an assortment of characters from a few other films, right in the middle of a war of the Three Kingdoms.
According to Eric Tsang, while Kungfu Cyborg: Metallic Attraction is one times as "lowbrow" as Eagle Shooting Hero, Light-transcending Pandora's Box is three times as "lowbrow" as Kungfu Cyborg. Speaking of which, release date for Kungfu Cyborg has been pushed back by a week to August 20, 2009 to allow more time for post-production as the number of CGI shots has been increased by 100 to 400.
While Law Kar Ying said about being invited to reprise the role of Tripitaka a few months back, he was hesitant as he didn't want to repeat this role unless he could top it, and it had to be significantly different. So far, it remains uncertain if Law Kaw King has joined Pandora's Box, and he's currently filming 14 Blades starring Donnie Yen and Vicki Zhao, playing an evil eunuch.
Ronald Cheng and Sun Li are playing the lead roles in Light-transcending Pandora's Box and they are joined by various Chinese and Hong Kong celebrities including veteran artistes Eric Tsang, Sandra Ng, Kenny Bee, Bruce Liang, Yuen Biao, Yuen Wah, Yuen Qiu; a number of indispensable comedian extras Johnny Kong Yeuk Sing, Tin Kai Man, Lam Tze Chung, Lee Kin Yan; from Mainland are Guo De Gang, Yu Rong Guang, Huang Bo, Guo Tao, Wang Xue Bing, Sha Yi; from Hong Kong arrives Alex Fong, Fan Siu Wong, Danny Chan Kwok Kwan, Marco Ngai, Patrick Tam, Edmond Leung; and it's being complemented and adorned by female artistes Athena Chu, Gigi Leung, Betty Huang Yi, Ada Choi, Xu Jiao...
