-- A Chinese Ghost Story --
Press conference was held on June 1 to mark the production commencement of director's Wilson Yip's version of A Chinese Ghost Story, starring Louis Koo, Liu Yifei, Yu Shao Qun, Fan Siu Wong, Kara Hui, Gong Xin Liang, etc.

-- Choy Li Fut --

Contemporary martial arts comedy 《蔡李佛拳》 Choy Li Fut (tentative) has formally begun production in Guangzhou on June 2, 2010. The film is directed by Cheng Dong, and stars Wang Bao Quang, Michelle Ye Xuan, Ng Man Tat, Xie Miao, Sanda champion Liu Hai Long, Kara Hui, Xiong Nai Jin, Wong Yat Fei, Liu Han etc. The film has the support of Chen Zhong Jie, head of Xin Hui Choy Li Fut Association, who provides input on the script and assists in martial arts choreography.

As this is the first time the former Shaolin disciple Wang Bao Qiang gets to do a martial arts production, he is especially excited and elated. He says that in the past, he was under the impression that shooting an action film was easy, but only when he starts doing it does he realises that it's not as simple as he had thought, there's some challenge in accommodating the camera, he still needs to work hard on it. Wang Bao Qiang would be sparring against Xie Miao quite frequently, and his effort has been acknowledged by Xue Miao, who notes that he's very diligent and both of them fight till their hands are covered in bruises.

Michelle Ye is playing Wang Bao Qiang's love interest in Choy Li Fut. Michelle Ye says that Wang Bao Qiao is very cute and she had hoped to collaborate again with him again since doing Fire of Conscience last year. Ng Man Tat would play Wang Bao Qiao's father.

Wang Bao Qiang is taking on the leading role as an American born Chinese youth Hai Gui, who returns to China to succeed a Choy Li Fut School. He who was trained in Western Boxing, is to grow from a neophyte to a master of Choy Li Fut. He is dressed in avant-garde clothes and would often mix a line or two of English in his speech, and would be embroiled in multiple-angle relationship tussle, namely rivalling with sanda fighter Xie Miao for the affection of Michelle Ye.

Whether it is fuelled by the success Wilson Yip's Ip Man or not, Wing Chun is fast becoming a popular kungfu onscreen, with many Wing Chun-themed movies being produced.

Legendary Assassin, directorial debut of Wu Jing and Nicky Li, will be released on DVD on January 22. The cast of the action film includes Wu Jing, Celina Jade, Aoyama Noriko, Kou Zhan Wen, Kara Hui, Alex Fong, Lam Suet, Ken Lo, etc.

Wu Jing stars as a cool and lethal hitman with a heart of gold being marooned on an outlying island due to an incoming typhoon and befriends a small-time cop Celina Jade. Meanwhile, the Aoyama Noriko, wife of the crime boss Kou Zhan Wen, is out for vengeance as well as wanting to recover his corpse after discovering he was killed on the island, with his head missing. Press conference marking the inaugural filming of 《狼牙之阿布》 Legendary Assassin: Bruce was held in Beijing on July 25, attended by producers Paco Wong and Ng See Yuen, directors Nicky Li Chung Chi and Wu Jing, famous erhu soloist Chen Jun, who's scoring/playing the main theme, cast members Celina Jade, Kou Zhan Wen, Alex Fong Lik Sun, Jiang Bao Cheng. To the applause of the guests, Wu Jing and his senior Kou Zhan Wen put up a captivating fight on the stage.

Global Chinese Kungfu Jubilee, organised by Shenzhen Satellite TV, Shaolin Culture, TVB, China Wushu Association, was held at Shenzhen Bao-an Stadium on the October 12 evening and was graced by various luminaries in the film industry who's involved in martial arts productions. The evening kicked off with red carpet walk by Jackie Chan, wuxia novelist Jin Yong, Liu Chia Liang, Ching Siu Ting. Cheung Sing Yim, Peter Pau, Yuen Biao, Cheng Pei Pei, Anthena Chu, Jay Leung, Josie Ho, David Chiang, Gordon Liu, Wu Jing, Tony Jaa, Yasuaki Kurata etc.

-- Master of Taichi DVD --

Wu Jing's tour-de-force, Master of Tai Chi, has been re-released recently by Tai Seng on shortened edition DVD that comes complete with English subtitles and dub. Master of Taichi is loosely based on the life of Yang Lu Chan, the founder of Yang Style Tai Chi, on the trials he goes through in order to study Chen Style Tai Chi, his encounter with the Manchurian royalty as well as his matches against the legendary Dong Hai Chuan. Yuen Wo Ping and Chueng Sing Yim direct this TV series of incredible martial arts sequences that comprises of multitudes of wushu stars like Yu Hai, Wang Qun, Billy Chow, Kara Hui, Xu Xiang Dong, Tan Qiao, Kou Zhan Wen...
