-- Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon -- In Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon directed by Daniel Lee, Andy Lau plays the title character Zhao Zilong, Ti Lung plays Guan Yu, Pu Cun Xin plays Zhuge Liang while Maggie Q and Sammo Hung are playing fictitious characters Cao Ying and Luo Ping An respectively.
Cao Ying is fashioned after Cao Cao's grandson-in-law, gender-bent and moulded into Cao Cao's granddaughter, one who excels in horse-riding and martial arts. She views Zhao Zilong as Cao family's greatest enemy and the battle between them is inevitable. Luo Ping An was originally Zhang Fei, but as to why the change, Sammo Hung retorts, "I'm so handsome, how could I act as Zhang Fei?"

-- Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon -- It appears that when opulent period action films from China fail to gain traction with international audiences, the solution from local filmmakers is to just crank out more of the same and hope for the best. One of these is from BLACK MASK director Daniel Lee who is treading into the past for the first time, outside of television work. Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon is engineered from its very core to be an impressive action and adventure movie. Aside from having a ludicrous title better suited to a Playstation video game, the production has a lot going for it… on paper. Coincidently, source material for the film actually did inspire the Dynasty Warriors video game series, along with John Woo’s upcoming war epic Red Cliff. Kung Fu Cinema >>More<<

Peter Chan's battle strategy to steer his new film from conventional period epics is to portray the gritty reality of 1850 China amid civil war.
A top drawer cast, a big-name director, a period epic with pulse-racing action sequences. The description applies equally to any number of films including Hero, Curse of the Golden Flower, and the upcoming Red Cliff and Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon. But this is filmmaker Peter Chan's The Warlords, a tale of three sworn brothers set against the tumultuous backdrop of epic battles and political intrigue.

-- The Five Venoms -- Remake of The Five Venoms, directed by Kirk Wong, will begin production at the end of October in Shanghai. Maggie Q, Edison Chen, Wang Lee Hom, Huang Xiao Ming, Wu Jing, RZA, Gordon Liu are being invited to join the production. . In this remake that is set in 21sth century, Edison Chen will play the junior most disciple commissioned by his Master Gordon Liu before his death to deal with five other treacherous disciples. Martial arts director Dion Lam has already entered the production and begun discussing the action scenes with director Kirk Wong, who has been a vegetarian for over 20 years despite being a director of or actor in violent action movies. -- Five Venoms Remake -- According to Celestial Pictures, Five Venoms remake will begin production in September with a tentative release date in around 4th quarter of 2008. The US$15m feature, which taps into 5 unorthodox skills, Lizard, Snake, Toad, Centipede and Scorpion Styles, will be shot in Shanghai, Haerbin, and possibly USA. Director Kirk Wong says that major changes are being made to the remake, which will be set in contemporary days in a fictitious city. A female role will be introduced in the form of Spider Lady. Tentatively, Jay Chow, Edison Chen, Maggie Q, Huang Xiao Ming and Wu Jing are being considered to play the Five Venoms while Gordon Liu their master. The First
