-- Legend of Madam White Snake -- At a press conference held in Chong Yang, Hubei on September 29 afternoon, the crew and cast for 《白蛇传说》 Legend of Madam White Snake (tentative), which depicts the tale of forbidden love between a snake spirit and a mortal, with the intervention of an eminent monk, were formally announced: Yang Zi, who's in the midst of filming Unparalleled Hero Fong Sai Yu TV series with Shi Xiao Long and Xu Ming Hu, and Chui Po Chu are producing, with Ching Siu Tung directing, while Eva Huang stars as White Snake, Raymond Lam as Xu Xian, Jet Li as Reverend Fa Hai, Charlene Choi as Green Snake and Wen Zhang, whom Jet Li invited to play his disciple Neng Ren, who despite his name meaning able to endure, loses his soul the moment he sets his sights upon Green Snake. Eva Huang said that she has many fight scenes in Legend of Madam White Snake, which has been in production in the scenic Chong Yang since the beginning of this month and is slated for release in 2nd half of 2011. -- Legend of the Swordsman -- In wuxia comedy Legend of the Swordsman (Legend of Blademaster), directed by Yuan Hong Bing, starring Shi Xiao Long, He Jie, Law Kar Ying, Leung Kar Yan, who also served as the action director, Li Yu and Qiu Lin, a villager enlists the help of three blademasters to help defend the village against a group of brigands. Legend of the Swordsman is scheduled for release this November.
The director Yuan Hong Bing thinks well of Shi Xiao Long, and intends to cast him in a pure wuxia film that he has been working on for two, three years, and hopes to invite Ching Siu Tung to be the choreographer. Trailer: MTime

-- Legend of Blademaster -- Production on kungfu comedy 《刀客外传》 Legend of Blademaster (tentative), directed by Yuan Hong Bing, starring Shi Xiao Long, He Jie and Law Kar Ying, Leung Kar Yan, Gao Jun, has just begun in Yinchuan, Ningxia. Shi Xiao Long (who is more commonly known as Ashton Chen these days) is taking on the leading role as a braggart blademaster with lame skills, but boasts of his top-notch martial arts skills and even call himself Beggar Su. Legend of Blademaster is slated for release this October.
Shi Xiao Long says the he's having some pressure playing a blademaster, "In the past, the pugilists I play either fight with swords or barehanded, this is the first time I'm using a sabre, it's quite a challenge. When wielding a sword, I would be after the more sublime feel. As for broadsword, the movements would be broader, just like the open desert. And I'm also taking the opportunity to slim down under such hot weather and harsh conditions here."
In the film Legend of Blademaster, a village is often troubled by a group of bandits on horseback, and the villagers send the teacher Fan Jian (Law Kar Ying) to the city to hire swordsmen to protect the village, but unfortunately, due to insufficient funds, he gets snubbed everywhere, failing to hire any professional swordsman. By chance, he runs into a braggart Beggar Su (Shi Xiao Long), who somehow becomes Fan Jian's lifeline by a twist of fate. Beside the braggart are two other unreliable blademasters who are hired as well...

-- Ip Man 2 --
《叶问2:宗师传奇》 Ip Man 2: Legend of Grandmaster held a press conference (video), attended by producer Raymond Wong, director Wilson Yip and the cast, in Foshan on 10 August evening to mark the commencement of the production. Actual filming will take place on a soundstage in Shanghai the next day and it will have twice the amount of martial arts scenes. The film is due for release next summer.

-- Ip Man 2 -- Ip Man 2, directed by Wilson Yip, starring Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung, who also serves as the martial arts director, Kent Cheng, Lynn Hung, Huang Xiao Ming, Fan Siu Wong To Yu Hang, Ashton Chen aka Shi Xiao Long, is beginning production August 10.
Contradicting an earlier news, rather than To Yu Hang, Raymond Wong says that Huang Xiao Ming, non-martial artist, would be playing Yip Man's disciple, King of Hand-talk, Huang Jin, which is based on Yip Man's real-life disciple Wong Shun Leung. Huang Jin is a keen martial artist but his youth and brashness often land him in sticky situations.
The kid Bruce Lee has been narrowed down to two candidates: 10-year-old Jiang Dai Yan from Henan and 12-year-old Pan Run Kang from Heilongjiang but they haven't found an ideal candidate for teen Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee scenes would be pushed to October as they continue the talent hunt. QQ

- He Who Would Be King -- Press conference was held in Beijing on October 28 to celebrate the launch of Ju Long's film studio as well as to announce its upcoming production 《王者》Wang Zhe/He Who Would Be King (tentative), which begins filming next month. The cast includes Sammo Hung, Shi Xiao Long, Bruce Liang, Zhao Chang Jun, Xiong Xin Xin, Li Wan Tong.
According to Bruce Liang, the film is produced by his disciple Ju Long's firm, so he wishes to lend him a hand. And he also finds the script for the martial arts film to be not bad.
Sammo Hung and Bruce Liang are playing rivals, the two would not only have an ultimate showdown, but also fall for the same girl Li Wan Tong.
The kungfu comedy is slated for release in Lunar New Year 2009, and for each ticket sold, 2 yuan would be donated to charity, to help Sichuan earthquake victims rebuild their homes.
Bruce Liang would also be joining another film Jeet Kune Do which aims at paying tribute to Bruce Lee. Jeet Kune Do is directed by Billy Chan and stars Mainland martial artist Chen Tian Xin, who also produces the film and has been intensifying his training in preparation for the role. On October 18, producer Jackie Chan, director Antony Szeto, and the cast Sammo Hung, Liu Feng Chao, Wang Wen Jie, Wang Fe, Zhang Jin, Mao Jun Jie were at the Beijing premiere and press conference of Wushu, which opens on October 24 this month. The film, which shows the hardships of young people training in martial arts, reminds Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung of their Peking Opera training days.

After five years of studies at Professional Children's School, Shi Xiao Long (Ashton Chen), 20, has graduated from the New York college in June and returned to China. He has made many close friends during the past few years, has grown up quite a bit and undergone various changes.
Shi Xiao Long plans to enroll at a local university, as this will allow him to do some filming in between.
Soon Shi Xiao Long will be doing an action thriller 《火线追踪》 (Huo Xian Zhui Zong) for CCTV movie channel. The project is set in 1930s Shanghai, and Shi Xiao Long will play a trainee cop. Ultimately, Shi Xiao Long aspires to break into Hollywood, and hopes to work with Jackie Chan and Jet Li, and learn from them. Ashton Chen Blog
